Ergon Energy has released tips to stop the electricity bill going up with the Christmas lights.

Recommendations include evening-only light displays, automated timers and LED lights.

Ergon Energy’s Corporate Communications Manager, Rod Rehbein, says solar-powered lights are also a popular option.

Rod Rehbein: “Of course if you don’t want to have any bill at all in terms of electricity use then if you can move to the solar lights they have the sensors there then they’re left out and charged during the day and then they keep the lights shining brightly through the night.”
