A natural resource management group is joining forces with the Gladstone Regional Council to reduce the impact of feral wildlife on farmlands.

Burnett Mary Regional Group is holding a workshop at Miriam Vale later this month to teach local landholders how to safely control and reduce feral pigs, dogs and other vermin.

The group’s biodiversity project officer Saranne Giudice says the workshop is needed.

Saranne Giudice: “Pigs and wild dogs are predating a lot of our small native mammals, and foxes and wild dogs are actually having a big impact on a lot of the endangered marine turtles that nest along our local beaches.”
