A Sunshine Coast man has been fined three-thousand nine-hundred dollars for illegal crabbing.
The man was charged with possessing female and undersized mud crabs, using unmarked crab apparatus and obstructing Fisheries officers.
The Queensland Boating and Fishery Patrol’s district officer, Russell Overton, says the hefty fine highlights the importance of obeying crabbing regulations.
Russell Overton: “Our officers were on patrol along the Kawana Way stretch of the Sunshine Coast and observed the man exiting from the mangroves with a white bucket. The officers then inspected the gentlemen, at which time a confrontation took place.”
