Surf Safe: Angle 2:

An expected increase in beachgoers has prompted Surf Life Saving Queensland (SLSQ) to boost awareness of beach safety and remind guests to the dangers of the surf and beach environment.

Unpatrolled beaches, rips and alcohol are the biggest threats to visitors.

SLSQ’s Regional Operations Manager, Craig Holden, says beachgoers shouldn’t take unnecessary risks.

Craig Holden: “We don’t want people drinking and going for a swim, we don’t want people not supervising their children so if we can go down there, do the right thing, ask the lifesavers for advice, read the warning signs, swim between the flags then we’re all going to have a very happy and a safe Christmas and a very happy and a safe summer as well.”
